View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] Evergreen Marine, known as Taiwan's largest shipping company, paid year-end bonuses equivalent to 40 months' salary to its employees after its performance surged due to the industry's boom.
On the 2nd (local time), local media such as the Taipei Times reported that Evergreen Marine paid bonuses equivalent to 4,000% of employees' monthly salaries on the 30th of last month.
Although the bonuses were paid differentially based on individual performance, it is known that an employee with a monthly salary of 60,000 Taiwan dollars (about 2.58 million KRW) received 2.4 million Taiwan dollars (about 103.15 million KRW). In particular, a couple working together in the company with over 10 years of service revealed in an interview with the media that they received a total of 5 million Taiwan dollars (about 215 million KRW).

Amid this, Evergreen Marine, ranked as the world's 7th largest shipping company, reportedly recorded a cumulative net profit of 158.279 billion Taiwan dollars (about 6.8 trillion KRW) up to the third quarter of last year. This amount is about 13 times higher than the same period last year.
