Kim Jo-il Appointed as the 16th New Chief of Jeonnam Fire Headquarters
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Jo-il, the 16th newly appointed head of the Jeonnam Provincial Fire Headquarters, took office on the 3rd.
Kim, the new head, is from Daejeon and graduated from Bomun High School and Korea University with a major in Genetic Engineering.
He entered the fire service in 1997 as the 9th class of fire officer candidates and has held key positions such as Administrative Legal Audit Officer at the National Fire Agency, Fire Chief of Gwangju Metropolitan City, Principal of Gyeonggi-do Fire Academy, Fire Policy Officer at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and served as Fire Chief of Gyeongnam Province.
Instead of a formal inauguration ceremony, he presided over a video conference at the Fire Headquarters' video strategy meeting room, attended by fire department chiefs and 18 fire station chiefs.
At this meeting, he emphasized the role of a commander as ideally supporting the field and striving to create the best disaster response environment to ensure smooth field operations.
He also urged firefighters to take pride in their profession and become top disaster experts who can surely protect citizens in danger, based on respect and trust among colleagues.
