Han Jong-hee, Vice Chairman and Head of the DX Division, and Kyung Kye-hyun, President and Head of the DS Division, jointly delivered a New Year's message on the 3rd as co-CEOs, diagnosing that "leading businesses are constantly being chased, and businesses that need to leap forward are hesitating," and emphasized, "In 2022, we must change once again."
After being appointed as the 'two top executives' of Samsung Electronics through the year-end executive reshuffle last year, Vice Chairman Han and President Kyung emphasized management based on customer experience (CX) in their first New Year's message since taking office and called for changes to achieve this.
Vice Chairman Han and President Kyung urged, "We must boldly discard past business models and strategies, rigid processes, and cultures that do not fit the times," and "Let's transform into an agile culture where individual creativity is respected and everyone can focus on enhancing value."
Specifically, they presented the new year's themes as ▲ Customer First ▲ Culture of Acceptance ▲ Leading ESG (Environment, Social, Governance).
Vice Chairman Han and President Kyung said, "Innovation in customer-oriented technology is the foundation that made Samsung Electronics what it is today, and world-class technological capabilities are parts we cannot give up," adding, "Now, we must take a step further so that customers become our most important value and strive to deliver the best customer experience."
They also emphasized, "An organizational culture of inclusion and respect that tolerates failure and embraces diverse values must take root," and "Let's create a new culture starting from leaders who communicate with respectful language and open minds, allowing any employee to freely imagine and dream beyond the boundaries of products and organizations."
Furthermore, they stressed, "We must deeply consider not only the economic value created by the company but also social value, internalize compliance awareness, and fulfill social responsibilities as a global corporate citizen," and urged, "Let's lead ESG to strengthen corporate sustainability."
Vice Chairman Han and President Kyung continued, "Just as we achieved a great transformation to become the global number one during the technological revolution, let's elevate the dignity of our business through valuable customer experiences," and encouraged, "Let's restore employees' pride through the best-respected employee experience."
They added, "Where Samsung Electronics will be in 10 or 20 years depends on us standing here now," and concluded, "Let's move forward vigorously toward our higher goals and ideals."
The opening ceremony held this morning at Samsung Digital City in Suwon was attended by President Kyung, President Lee Jung-bae of the Memory Business Division, President Choi Si-young of the Foundry Business Division, President Jeon Kyung-hoon of the Network Business Division, and about 100 executives and employees, and was broadcast live to all business sites via video conferencing systems.
