Sangju Gotgam and Pears Head to Vietnam, Smooth Start to the New Year
Dried Persimmons 9.6t · Pears 32t, Worth 240 Million KRW
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Trainee Reporter Lee Seryeong] To celebrate the New Year, representative agricultural products of Sangju, Gyeongbuk?dried persimmons and pears?have been shipped for export to Vietnam.
Sangju Ajagae Agricultural Cooperative Corporation and Dureung Honey Pear Agricultural Cooperative Corporation exported dried persimmons and pears through Orient Co., Ltd., which will be sold at Gangnam Mart, a premium Korean supermarket in Vietnam.
The city expects additional shipments to coincide with Tet, the largest holiday in Vietnam, and announced plans to export other agricultural products such as Shine Muscat grapes together.
The dried persimmons exported to Vietnam weighed 9.6 tons, valued at 140 million KRW, and Sangju pears were exported at 32 tons worth approximately 100 million KRW.
Vietnam is one of the fastest-growing economies in Southeast Asia and imports many domestic agricultural products, fueled by the Korean Wave.
Although overseas imports slightly decreased recently due to the resurgence of COVID-19, the demand from local consumers for Sangju agricultural products remained steady, allowing exports to continue as in the previous year.
