[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] On the 2nd (local time), Bloomberg News reported that Twitter permanently suspended the account of Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene for spreading false information related to COVID-19.
Twitter stated that Greene repeatedly violated the rules prohibiting the dissemination of false information, and this is the fifth and permanent account suspension.
The permanently suspended account is Greene's personal account, and she can still use her official account. Regarding the permanent ban on her personal account,
Greene called Twitter an enemy of the United States on Telegram that day. She wrote, "We do not need Twitter, and we will show that it is time to defeat our enemy."
Greene has previously faced several temporary suspensions of her Twitter account last year for spreading false information about election fraud and COVID-19. As a supporter of former President Donald Trump, Greene was expelled from a House standing committee due to her extreme remarks, including claims of election manipulation in the 2020 presidential election.
