Samsung Electronics Unveils New TV Models at CES... Declares Era of 'Customized Screens'
Micro LED, Neo QLED, and Lifestyle TVs
New Gaming Standard 'HDR10+ Gaming'
Slim Design and Enhanced Performance Soundbars Also Introduced
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Samsung Electronics announced on the 3rd that it will unveil new TV products including Micro LED, Neo QLED, and Lifestyle TVs at 'CES 2022,' the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA, from the 5th to the 7th (local time).
Taking this opportunity, Samsung presented a plan to fully launch the era of 'customized screens' for each user centered on new products this year to realize the vision of its video display business, 'Screens Everywhere, Screens for All.'
Introducing New Sizes of the World's Best Display 'Micro LED' 101-inch and 89-inch
At CES 2022, Samsung Electronics will unveil three models of the 2022 Micro LED series for the first time: 110-inch, 101-inch, and 89-inch. Micro LED uses LEDs at the micrometer (㎛) scale that emit light and color by themselves without backlight or color filters, delivering the best picture quality with advantages such as deep color, higher clarity, and contrast.
The new Micro LED products enhance user convenience not only with innovative picture quality as next-generation displays but also with ▲easy installation without separate construction ▲user-customized features like 'Art Mode' and 'Multi View' ▲and an overwhelming sound system.
Users can decorate their homes like galleries by selecting their favorite artworks or photos through Art Mode. The 2022 models exclusively offer two works by the world-renowned media artist Refik Anadol.
Additionally, the Multi View feature allows users to watch up to four different contents simultaneously by connecting up to four HDMI ports, making versatile use of the large screen.
Furthermore, supporting Dolby Atmos, the latest movie sound technology from Dolby Laboratories in the U.S., the TV delivers an immersive premium audio experience with multi-channel sound from speakers located at the top, sides, and bottom of the TV.
Premium TV 'Neo QLED' Innovates Picture Quality and Sound
The 2022 Neo QLED enhances picture quality by improving Samsung's proprietary picture engine, the 'Neo Quantum Processor,' and introducing numerous new technologies.
First, the improved contrast mapping technology finely adjusts brightness in 16,384 steps (12-bit → 14-bit), four times more than the previous 4,096 steps, enabling more vivid color expression.
Also, 'Shape Adaptive Light' analyzes the shape and surface of objects in the video and optimizes the light source shape accordingly, allowing detailed expression of bright and dark areas. 'Real Depth Enhancer' automatically identifies subjects contrasting with the background to improve picture quality, maximizing the three-dimensional effect of the image.
Additionally, it supports 'Eye Comfort Mode,' which adjusts brightness and controls blue light exposure according to changes in ambient lighting to provide a comfortable viewing experience.
By adding upward-facing speakers on the top of the TV, it offers 'Moving Sound' and 'Dolby Atmos,' creating surround sound above the user's head that follows the movement of objects on the screen.
'Lifestyle TV' Enhances Comfortable Viewing Experience with Matte Display
Improved 'Smart Hub' and Accessory Expansion... Maximizing User Experience
Lifestyle TV product lines such as 'The Frame,' 'The Serif,' and 'The Sero' newly apply a 'Matte Display' that prevents light reflection on the screen, providing a comfortable viewing experience. Especially, The Frame, available in various sizes from 32-inch to 85-inch, allows users to enjoy their favorite artworks in a comfortable environment as if viewing them in an art gallery.
Reflecting the trend of users wanting to engage in more diverse activities at home, Samsung Electronics also introduces a newly revamped 'Smart Hub' function optimized for 'In Home Activity' on smart TVs.
'Media,' equipped with content curation and exploration features, uses enhanced machine learning technology to learn user preferences and recommend the most relevant content from various streaming platforms. There is also 'Magic Screen,' which allows users to decorate and enjoy the TV screen with various artworks and photos, and 'Gaming Hub,' which helps users easily find and access games.
Models QLED and above include a built-in Internet of Things (IoT) hub, enabling control of various home devices through SmartThings. Micro LED, Neo QLED, and The Frame are equipped with an 'NFT (Non-Fungible Token) platform,' allowing users to purchase or view digital art at home.
Additionally, the 2022 models of The Frame and Neo QLED (65-inch and below) introduce wall-mount accessories and stands that automatically rotate to support vertical screen orientation. The entire 2022 TV lineup will support vertical interfaces and include vertical multi-view functionality. To enhance TV camera features, Samsung also unveils its own camera accessory, the 'SlimFit Cam.'
New Gaming Standard 'HDR10+ Gaming'
Maximizing TV Sound Experience... New Soundbar Lineup
'HDR10+ Gaming' is the world's first HDR gaming certification standard developed by HDR10+ Technology LLC, led by Samsung Electronics. This gaming standard minimizes input lag and supports a 120Hz refresh rate, providing smooth and fast game screen transitions. Samsung will demonstrate the new gaming standard at CES 2022 in collaboration with Nvidia, the world's largest graphics chipset company.
Furthermore, the 2022 soundbar introduces more immersive three-dimensional sound. First, the 'Q-Symphony' feature, which synchronizes the soundbar with QLED TV speakers to enjoy more realistic surround sound, has been enhanced. This allows users to enjoy overwhelming 3D surround sound with up to 22 channels using all speakers built into the TV.
Equipped with 'Wireless Dolby Atmos,' connecting the 2022 Samsung QLED TV and soundbar via Wi-Fi enables users to experience surround sound without complicated cables. A new 'Ultra Slim Soundbar,' only 4.1 cm thick yet delivering powerful sound, is also scheduled for release.
