[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] Nearly 1,000 homes have been destroyed by a massive wildfire in the state of Colorado, USA. U.S. President Joe Biden has declared Colorado a disaster area.
According to the Associated Press on the 1st (local time), Joe Pelle, sheriff of Boulder County, Colorado, stated that at least 991 homes collapsed due to the fire that broke out on December 30 last year. Additionally, hundreds of homes were damaged, and three people are reported missing. Notably, the affected area experienced 20 cm of snowfall the previous night, and temperatures have dropped below minus 10 degrees Celsius.
This wildfire caused the greatest damage in Colorado's history. Local media added that it is estimated to have burned at least 24 square kilometers northwest of Denver. The fire spread easily due to dry trees caused by months of drought combined with strong winds.
