Gyeonggi Office of Education's 'Living Wage' for Next Year Set at 10,400 Won... 9.7% Increase from Previous Year
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education has finalized the 2022 'Living Wage' at 10,400 won.
The Gyeonggi Office of Education announced on the 31st that, after consulting the Living Wage Committee, it decided the next year's living wage to be 10,400 won, an increase of 927 won (9.79%) from this year's 9,473 won.
Since 2014, the Gyeonggi Office of Education has enacted and implemented the 'Living Wage Ordinance' to promote the livelihood stability of workers who are difficult to guarantee with the minimum wage and to improve their quality of life.
Woo Ho-sam, head of the Labor-Management Cooperation Division at the Gyeonggi Office of Education, said, "The living wage, prepared so that Gyeonggi education workers can support their families and maintain human dignity, has great significance," adding, "We will make further efforts to uphold the purpose of introducing the living wage."
