"Recognized for Safe and Convenient Traffic Environment" Geoje City Wins Excellence Award in 'Sustainable Transport City Evaluation'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Geoje City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 30th that it received an Excellence Award in the '2021 Sustainable Transport City Evaluation' conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The transport city evaluation, conducted annually since 2014, assesses 74 cities nationwide with populations over 100,000 based on 32 indicators in environmental, social, and economic status evaluations as well as sustainability evaluations to select outstanding local governments.
In the status evaluation category, the city was recognized for its efforts to create a transportation environment that all citizens can use safely and conveniently.
It also received favorable reviews for the modal share of public transport and green transport (bicycle + walking) and for public transport user satisfaction.
In the policy evaluation category, the city earned high marks for its policy efforts to shift demand from private car use to public transport, receiving an Excellence Award among 38 cities with populations between 100,000 and 300,000 nationwide.
