Lee Je-hoon, Lead Actor in Film 'Talju'... Koo Kyo-hwan Joins
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Actor Lee Je-hoon will star as the protagonist in the film Escape.
Megabox JoongAng Corp. Plus M announced on the 28th, "Actors Lee Je-hoon and Koo Kyo-hwan have been cast as the leads in the film Escape," adding, "They have begun preparations for filming, which will start in the first half of 2022."
Escape depicts the life-or-death escape and chase between Gyu-nam, a North Korean soldier dreaming of a life with a future beyond the barbed wire fence, and Hyeon-sang, a Security Department officer who must stop him. The film is directed by Lee Jong-pil, who previously directed Samjin Company English TOEIC Class.
The movie portrays the breathless pursuit between a North Korean soldier who crosses the line between life and death toward life beyond the Demilitarized Zone and barbed wire fence, and a North Korean Security Department officer who tries to stop him. It aims to transcend the usual formula of division-themed stories that mainly depict conflicts and confrontations between North and South Korea.
Set mainly in the North Korean Demilitarized Zone and military bases, the film is expected to vividly capture the complex and subtle emotions exchanged between the escapee and the pursuer, who find coexistence difficult, along with dynamic action and the tense process of escape.
Lee Je-hoon plays Im Gyu-nam, a North Korean soldier who dreams of a new life in the South, where the future is not predetermined, while Koo Kyo-hwan portrays Ri Hyeon-sang, a North Korean Security Department officer who pursues Gyu-nam to stop his escape.
