"Why Are You Washing the Chicken as You Like?" Husband Who Assaulted Wife Also Fined in Appeal Trial
[Asia Economy Reporter Seoyoung Kwon] A husband who hit his wife’s face for dipping frozen chicken in water at will was sentenced to a fine.
On the 26th, the Chuncheon District Court Criminal Division 1 (Chief Judge Cheongmi Kim) announced that it upheld the original sentence of a 1.4 million won fine against Mr. A (65), who was charged with assault and injury.
Mr. A was previously tried on charges of hitting his wife, Mrs. B (61), in the face in August 2017 because she dipped frozen chicken for Samgyetang in the camping site refrigerator into water. At the time, Mr. A reportedly got angry, saying, "Are you washing the chicken as you please?" and struck Mrs. B’s face with the frozen chicken.
Mr. A was also charged with assaulting Mrs. B on the highway shoulder around the same time, and again assaulting her shortly after for not going together to his parents’ graves. Despite fully denying the charges in both the first and second trials, Mr. A was found guilty by the court in all cases.
