Statistics show that the number of dispatches to residential areas such as houses has increased since the COVID-19 social distancing measures.
According to an investigation, the Ulsan Fire Headquarters rescued 1,708 lives this year. Dispatches were made every 20 minutes, saving about 5 lives per day.
The Ulsan Fire Headquarters announced that, based on the analysis of rescue dispatch status as of the end of November this year, there were 24,578 dispatches in one year, and 19,585 cases were handled.
The average number of rescue dispatches per day was 73.6, meaning one dispatch every 20 minutes, rescuing 5 people daily.
By type of accident, the number of rescues were as follows: safety measures 5,665 cases (28.93%), removal of beehives 4,091 cases (20.89%), fire 2,759 cases (14.09%), traffic accidents 1,425 cases (7.28%), etc.
By location, the number of rescues were: residential (apartment and detached houses) 7,193 cases (36.73%), roads and railways 2,811 cases (14.35%), factories and warehouses 2,217 cases (11.32%), others 1,545 cases (7.89%). It was analyzed that rescue activity demand is high in places with a lot of human activity or where many people reside.
In residential facilities, the number increased by 1,280 cases (21.64%) compared to the same period last year, which is interpreted as an increase in rescue activity demand due to restrictions on outdoor activities caused by COVID-19.
By region, the cases were investigated as follows: △ Ulju-gun 8,231 cases (33.5%) △ Nam-gu 5,180 cases (21.1%) △ Buk-gu 5,117 cases (20.8%) △ Jung-gu 3,703 cases (15.1%) △ Dong-gu 2,340 cases (9.5%) △ Others (nearby areas) 7 cases (0.03%).
