Shin Ji-ye, "If You Are Serious About 'Regime Change,' Leave the People Power Party," Criticizes Former Spokesperson Hong Joon-pyo
"With Shin's Joining, Youths Engulfed in Disillusionment... 'Must Make a Declaration of Conversion'"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] Yeo Myung, co-head of the People Power Party's election countermeasure committee's joint youth headquarters and former spokesperson for Hong Joon-pyo's camp, raised his voice toward Shin Ji-ye, senior vice chairperson of the People Power Party's New Era Preparation Committee, saying, "If you want a regime change, please leave."
On the 24th, Yeo posted on his Facebook, saying, "Shin Ji-ye is a card that the People Power Party cannot use. So if her words 'I want a regime change' are sincere, it is right for her to leave the election committee herself."
He claimed, "I think Shin is very exhausted," and added, "In South Korea's de facto two-party system, the Green Party, which she belonged to, has little chance of coming to power and becoming a mainstream force, so she may have thought of joining a major party to realize her intentions."
Yeo continued, "If she had said that honestly, it wouldn't have been so repulsive, but she raised her pride by saying, 'I will not erase my voice,'" and questioned, "Then what stance will she take on all the values she has criticized, such as the People Power Party's party line on stopping nuclear phase-out and strengthening nuclear power, breaking up privileged strong labor unions, opposing queer festivals, and fully allowing redevelopment and reconstruction?"

Finally, Yeo said, "The People Power Party has repeatedly reflected and reformed over the past four years and has just begun to receive support from sensible youths, but youths are gripped by a strong sense of skepticism, wondering 'why should we bother voting for the People Power Party' due to Shin's joining," and added, "If she is not going to leave, she should at least make a 'declaration of conversion.'"
