Supreme Court Announces 4 Appointees for Dedicated Judges with 20 Years of Experience
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] Four former judges have passed the final screening for dedicated judges, selected from legal professionals with over 20 years of legal experience. The Supreme Court plans to proceed with the appointment consent procedure by the Council of Supreme Court Justices for these individuals.
On the 24th, the Supreme Court announced that four candidates passed the final screening by the Judicial Personnel Committee in the 2022 dedicated judge appointment process.
The final successful candidates are Attorney Kim Gwanjoong (Judicial Research and Training Institute Class 22, Law Firm Oracle), Attorney Baek Woongcheol (Class 24, Law Firm Bareun), Attorney Lee Jooheon (Class 26, Law Firm Gwangjang), and Clinical Professor Lee Hyunjong (Class 23, Seoul National University School of Law), all of whom are former judges.

Dedicated judges are selected from legal professionals with over 20 years of experience and mainly handle cases related to the daily lives of citizens. The appointment process first began in the second half of 2012, and since appointing three dedicated judges each in 2013 and 2014, they have been assigned small claims and civil single-judge cases at district courts nationwide up to this year.
