DL Chemical Wins World Packaging Organization (WPO) Award for Eco-Friendly Material 'Define'
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] DL Chemical announced on the 24th that its next-generation metallocene polyethylene product, D.FINE, has won the ‘2022 WorldStar Packaging Award’ selected by the World Packaging Organization (WPO).
The WPO is a non-profit international organization established in 1968, centered around packaging-related associations and companies, and has been awarding innovative products that have contributed to the advancement of packaging technology since 1970. Based on its achievement of winning the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award at the Korea Packaging Exhibition (KOREA STAR AWARDS 2021) in May this year, DL Chemical submitted the ‘D.FINE’ product. ‘D.FINE’ was honored with the WorldStar Packaging Award in the ‘Packaging Raw Materials and Components’ category for its outstanding eco-friendliness, including raw material reduction effects and resource recycling rates.
‘D.FINE’ is DL Chemical’s next-generation metallocene polyethylene product, the second in the world to be successfully developed. It features raw material reduction effects based on improved physical properties compared to conventional metallocene polyethylene. Using ‘D.FINE’ as a raw material enables the production of industrial packaging bags that are stronger yet 25% thinner than before. Its recycling rate is also at the highest level in the industry. While the typical recycling raw material usage rate is 20-30%, using ‘D.FINE’ allows for more than 50% recycled raw materials to be used while maintaining quality equivalent to new products.
