Smoke at Yeongdeungpo Shinsegae Department Store... 2-Hour Power Outage at Yeouido Sibeom Apartments
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] An accident occurred overnight, including a fire at a department store in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, and a power outage lasting about two hours in an apartment complex.
At around 11:15 PM on the 22nd, a fire broke out in the basement machine room of the Shinsegae Department Store Times Square branch in Yeongdeungpo-gu and was fully extinguished at 11:44 PM, 30 minutes later.
Due to the fire, a worker in his 50s suffered burns on his leg and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Fortunately, it was reported that his injuries were not severe. The fire authorities believe the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit and are investigating the exact cause of the fire.

Earlier on the same day, at around 7:30 PM, a power outage occurred at the Sibeom Apartment in Yeouido-dong, causing confusion for about 1,500 households for approximately two hours. Seven residents were trapped inside an elevator but were rescued by firefighters. The power outage is presumed to have been caused by a malfunction in the apartment complex’s transformer.
