HDC Group announced on the 22nd that it has carried out the 2022 regular executive appointments for a total of 30 people, including appointing President Yoo Byung-gyu and Executive Director Ha Won-gi as co-CEOs of HDC Hyundai Development Company.
With the promotion of Executive Director Ha Won-gi, HDC Hyundai Development Company will have Yoo Byung-gyu and Ha Won-gi serving as co-CEOs. Jung Kyung-gu was appointed and promoted to Vice President of HDC. Choi Ik-hoon, Lee Heung-bok, Jo Heung-bong, and Kim Jeong-seop were appointed as CEOs of HDC I-Park Mall, Tongyeong Eco Power, Seoul-Chuncheon Expressway, and Bukhang I-Bridge respectively. Kwak Hyo-shin and Kim Byung-chul were appointed and promoted as CEOs of Real Estate 114 and HDC Youngchang respectively. The group’s regular executive appointments were finalized as of January 1.
HDC Group stated, "To develop a horizontal organizational culture, this appointment focused on promoting progressive young leaders and female talents," adding, "For the first time in the group, three CEOs in their 40s were selected in this appointment."
Yoo Byung-gyu, the newly appointed CEO of HDC Hyundai Development Company, joined HDC Group in 2018 and has served as president of HDC since 2020. Yoo said, "We will secure fundamental and differentiated competitiveness in the construction industry and maximize our capabilities to flexibly adapt to changes, thereby solidifying HDC Hyundai Development Company’s position as a developer."
Yoo and newly appointed co-CEO Ha Won-gi previously served as site managers for large projects such as Cheongju Gagyeong I-Park Complexes 2, 3, and 4. Since 2020, Ha has overseen housing, architecture, and civil engineering sites as head of the Construction Management Headquarters. Ha will concurrently serve as head of the Construction Headquarters, tasked with strengthening HDC Hyundai Development Company’s core competitiveness.
Jung Kyung-gu, who has led new business discovery and M&A initiatives at HDC Hyundai Development Company, has been reassigned to the holding company HDC. He served as CFO of HDC Hyundai Development Company since 2018 and has led the company as CEO since 2020. He is credited with maintaining industry-leading operating profit margins and financial soundness, as well as spearheading the group’s new business discovery and M&A efforts.
Choi Ik-hoon, the newly appointed CEO of HDC I-Park Mall, has accumulated diverse experience at major HDC Group affiliates including HDC Hyundai Development Company, HDC I-Controls, and Real Estate 114. He served as head of the Management Support Office at HDC I-Park Mall in 2010 and was CEO (Executive Director) for two years starting in 2018. During that time, he led the full-scale renovation of I-Park Mall and played a key role in strengthening its competitiveness amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kwak Hyo-shin, the new CEO of Real Estate 114, joined Hyundai Development Company in 1997 and has served as head of the Planning and Management Headquarters since Hyundai Development Company acquired Real Estate 114 in 2018. He contributed to expanding business areas through various new solutions using big data and platform content.
Kim Byung-chul, the new CEO of HDC Youngchang, also comes from Hyundai Development Company and has worked at HDC Youngchang since 2015, contributing to business expansion and transformation into a comprehensive cultural enterprise.
Additionally, HDC Group appointed Lee Heung-bok, formerly of Korea Gas Corporation, as CEO of Tongyeong Eco Power. Lee served as head of the E&P Business Division and Jeonbuk Regional Headquarters at Korea Gas Corporation, where he was an energy industry expert for over 30 years involved in LNG production base construction and operation as well as overseas resource development. Since 2020, he has participated in infrastructure development at HDC Hyundai Development Company.
Jo Heung-bong, the new CEO of Seoul-Chuncheon Expressway, and Kim Jeong-seop, the new CEO of Bukhang I-Bridge, born in 1974 and 1981 respectively, possess specialized expertise in infrastructure development. Along with Kwak Hyo-shin, CEO of Real Estate 114, they were recognized for outstanding performance and capabilities and appointed as CEOs in their 40s.
