[2022 Regular Admission] Hanyang University to Select 1,247 Students... Change from Ga and Na Groups Starting This Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Hanyang University will select a total of 1,247 students in the 2022 regular admission. 870 students (including 64 in the College of Medicine) will be selected in Group A, and 377 students in Group B.
The change from last year in the regular admission is the change in the selection group. Departments that were selected in Group B in 2021 will be selected in Group A this year, and departments that were selected in Group A in 2021 will be selected in Group B this year.
Hanyang University will select students for the 2022 regular admission based 100% on the CSAT scores without reflecting school records. The arts and physical education departments are excluded.
The weighting ratio for each CSAT subject is the same as last year and varies by field. For the business and economics field, the ratio is 30% Korean, 40% Math, 10% English, and 20% for two social/science inquiry subjects. For the humanities field, it is 30% Korean, 30% Math, 10% English, and 30% for two social/science inquiry subjects. For the natural sciences field, it is 20% Korean, 35% Math (Geometry or Calculus), 10% English, and 35% for two science inquiry subjects.
Korean and Math scores are based on the CSAT standard scores, and the inquiry subjects use the university’s own converted standard scores. English and Korean History are reflected by grade. There is no mandatory subject in the inquiry area, and second foreign language or Chinese characters scores are not reflected and cannot be substituted for social inquiry subjects. Natural sciences applicants must take two science inquiry subjects, and if they take a Science Inquiry II subject, 3% of the converted standard score is added as bonus points.
English scores differ by field. For natural sciences, a perfect score of 100 points is given for grade 1, 98 points for grade 2, 94 points for grade 3, etc., with differentiated scores. For humanities, business and economics, and arts and physical education fields, the score difference between grades is larger than in natural sciences. Grade 1 is 100 points, grade 2 is 96 points, grade 3 is 90 points, and so on.
Korean History is reflected by a penalty system. In the university’s converted standard score (out of 1000 points), for humanities and business and economics fields, full marks are given up to grade 3, and 0.1 points are deducted from grade 4 onward. For natural sciences, full marks are given up to grade 4, and 0.1 points are deducted from grade 5 onward. For arts and physical education, no deduction is applied up to grade 8, and only grade 9 is deducted by 0.1 points.
