Jeju Police Chief Gogi Cheol Visits 4·3 Peace Park to Commemorate Victims
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] On the afternoon of the 20th, Go Gi-cheol, Chief of Jeju Police Agency, visited the Jeju 4·3 Peace Park to pay respects at the 4·3 Memorial Altar and prayed for the repose of the 4·3 spirits.
The memorial ceremony, guided by Yang Jo-hoon, Chairman of the 4·3 Peace Foundation, was attended by Oh Im-jong, President of the 4·3 Victims' Families Association, and Kim Chang-beom, Executive Vice President, among others.
After the ceremony, Chief Go Gi-cheol toured the Memorial Tablet Enshrinement Room, reflecting on the history and significance of the Jeju 4·3 incident, which marks its 73rd anniversary.
In the guestbook of the Memorial Tablet Enshrinement Room, he wrote, "We remember the tears of Jeju 4·3. Honoring the souls of the 4·3 victims, we will become a reliable and warm police force standing by the residents."
