On a Chilly Day, 'Winter Story' Blooms... Dongmyeong University and Nanugi World Year-End Collaborative Concert
On the 23rd at 7:30 PM in the Main Auditorium of Dongmyeong University Central Library
Prepared through Busan City's 2021 Citizen Crowdfunding Project
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A person who became a mentor professor after suffering from a disability, a student who won the crown at the campus singing contest, and the university president all take the same stage. On days weary from the pandemic and the cold, they decided to share a warm ‘Winter Story.’
‘Doing University,’ Dongmyung University, which advocates the practice of intellect, collaborated with Nanugi World, a startup in the cultural field.
On the 23rd at 7:30 PM, the ‘Doing Concert’ will be held at the Dongmyung University Central Library Auditorium.
This concert, named ‘Winter Story,’ will be conducted through storytelling that reads various stories. It promises to bring emotion to the chilly winter after a year spent with COVID-19.
For this Winter Story, 26 citizen sponsors participated in fundraising through the 2021 Busan Mecenat Activation Support Project’s citizen crowdfunding.
The first guest on stage is Lee Sang-hoon, who won first place at Dongmyung University’s ‘Dongmyung King of Song’ event. He is a major in architectural engineering, not music.
Singer Kim Im-kyung will also include various songs within the ‘story.’
The Dongmyung University Ensemble T.U will perform a piano quintet featuring “Spring in My Hometown” and Christmas medleys.
Professors who are not music majors also showcase their skills through ‘Doing.’ Professors Son Il-moon from the Department of Automotive Engineering, Yoon Jeong-jin from Early Childhood Education, Jo Jun-mo from Electronic Engineering, Choi Eon-sook and Noh Yoon-jung from the AI Department, and Lee Kang-hyuk from Game Engineering set aside their majors to prepare this ‘side project.’ It is ‘Doing’ that displays musical talents like a university brand.
They said they focused on lectures and major research during weekdays and prepared for the concert during weekends or spare time on holidays.
Familiar classical pieces will also be featured, including “La Traviata Fantasy” and Schumann’s “Romance,” fitting for the year-end season.
CEO Na Haeri will play the violin. Young artist Kang Dae-hyun will be on piano. Choi Woo-sun plays the clarinet, and Director Kim Do-eun is in charge of arrangement.
Flutist Park Hyung-bae is visually impaired. Oboist Yoon Se-ho and violinist Baek In-sung have developmental disabilities.
Park Hyung-bae and Yoon Se-ho are mentor professors at Dongmyung University’s Doing University along with CEO Na Haeri.
Professors at Dongmyung University who emphasize practice and experience, along with Doing University mentor professors who have overcome disabilities and showcase their talents, collaborate on the ‘Winter Story.’
The founder of ‘Doing University,’ President Jeon Ho-hwan, will not be absent. He will make a special appearance, performing songs such as “Nim’s Fragrance,” “Wolryang Daepyo Ajeokshim,” “Goibittoyo,” and “You Raise Me Up,” spanning Korea, the U.S., Japan, and China.
