[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Samsung Electronics announced on the 19th that it has been selected as the official partner supplying displays and solutions to Citi Field, the home stadium of the New York Mets in Major League Baseball (MLB) in the United States.
Opened in New York City in 2009, Citi Field is a massive stadium with a seating capacity of approximately 42,000 spectators. It is scheduled to reopen in time for the start of the 2023 MLB spring season after renovations aimed at providing a completely new fan experience.
Samsung Electronics will supply about 1,300 displays, including the main scoreboard, and solutions capable of controlling various multimedia content at Citi Field.
The scoreboard installed at the center of the stadium will be a high-definition LED screen with a total area of approximately 372㎡ and 4K resolution (3840x2160). Additionally, for the first time in an MLB stadium, an Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) based system will be established, broadcasting over 100 channels of sports and entertainment content in real time, enabling vivid game viewing from anywhere in the stadium.
Samsung Electronics has already installed various displays including LED signage at NFL stadiums such as LA SoFi Stadium and Las Vegas Allegiant Stadium, as well as NBA arenas like the San Francisco Chase Center and Atlanta State Farm Arena.
Jeff Dieline, Vice President of the New York Mets, said, "We are pleased to collaborate with Samsung Electronics, a world-leading company," adding, "By applying cutting-edge technology to Citi Field, we will provide millions of New York Mets fans with an enhanced baseball experience."
