Disease Control Agency System Access Error... Nationwide Screening Clinics Face Testing Disruptions
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] Access issues occurred with the COVID-19 screening test 'Electronic Questionnaire' managed by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), causing disruptions at temporary screening centers nationwide on the 18th.
The Seoul Station Plaza screening center was originally scheduled to start testing at 9 a.m., but as of 10 a.m., the system was still inaccessible, so tests were conducted manually.
Citizens experienced inconvenience, waiting for about 30 minutes in the cold without being able to get tested.
The KDCA stated, "An unidentified server overload occurred, and emergency recovery work is underway," adding, "Currently, the system has been normalized by restarting the server, and it is gradually stabilizing."

This is not the first time the KDCA's system has had problems. On the first day of the full implementation of the vaccine pass for multi-use facilities such as restaurants and cafes on the 13th and the following day, the 14th, system overload occurred during lunch and dinner hours due to a surge in authentication processing. Prior to that, the COVID-19 vaccine pre-registration system repeatedly experienced 'crash' errors due to overload.
