Vice Minister of Industry Discusses Supply Chain and Carbon Neutrality Cooperation with US Deputy Secretary of Economy
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] Park Jin-gyu, First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, met on the 16th with Jose Fernandez, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment, who is visiting Korea, to discuss bilateral cooperation measures on supply chain recovery and carbon neutrality.
The two met at the Four Seasons Hotel in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, and evaluated that the Korea-U.S. partnership in key industrial sectors has been strengthened through the Korea-U.S. summit in May. They agreed to continue close cooperation on global challenges such as supply chain recovery and carbon neutrality, which are difficult to achieve by individual national efforts alone.
Both sides also exchanged views on the U.S.'s new regional economic initiative, the "Indo-Pacific Economic Framework."

During the meeting, Vice Minister Park requested the U.S. to create a business-friendly environment for Korean companies operating in the U.S. and also demanded renegotiation of the U.S.'s Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act, which limits the export volume of Korean steel.
