Haenam-gun Allocates 839.9 Billion Won Budget for Next Year... Largest Scale Among County Units

Sailing Through 4 Consecutive Years of 1 Trillion Won Era... Budget Increased by Over 340 Billion Won Compared to 2017

[Haenam＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, has surpassed a local fiscal scale of 1 trillion won for three consecutive years since the 7th local government, showing remarkable results in key projects due to timely project implementation and expanded investment.

According to the county on the 15th, the total budget for 2021 was 1.1491 trillion won, operating the largest fiscal scale among county-level local governments of similar size nationwide.

This is an increase of 335.6 billion won compared to 813.5 billion won at the launch of the 7th local government in 2017, officially opening the era of local finance exceeding 1 trillion won since 2019 (1.0842 trillion won).

Despite the expanded fiscal scale, the execution rate has continuously increased from 66.7% in 2017 to 82.1% in 2020. With the rapid promotion of key projects, major hub facilities such as the local food direct store, Haenam Cinema, Youth Nulim Culture Center, Youth Doodream Center, and Veterans Hall were newly constructed. Additionally, rural living water supply projects in Samsan, Hwangsan, and Sanji districts were completed, showing achievements in expanding residents' welfare, basic living infrastructure, and establishing a foundation for regional development.

The 2022 main budget of Haenam-gun is 839.9 billion won, an increase of 53 billion won compared to the previous year (786.9 billion won in the 2021 main budget), surpassing 800 billion won for the first time.

The county reflected 324.5 billion won in the 2022 government budget, including most local pending projects, and the final budget for this year is expected to reach an all-time high.

In particular, national subsidies increased remarkably by 170.5 billion won from 212.3 billion won in 2017 to 382.8 billion won in 2021.

This is interpreted as the result of efforts such as discovering customized demands for central government departments and establishing a Sejong office from the early budget planning stage to the confirmation of the National Assembly budget, demonstrating proactive sales administration.

Haenam-gun plans to maintain an expansive fiscal operation policy next year to improve residents' quality of life, expand proactive investments for regional economic revitalization, and actively allocate resources to ongoing projects to complete key county government projects.

County Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan said, “We will vigorously continue the era of a 1 trillion won budget through active national fund acquisition,” and added, “Through rapid fiscal execution, we will contribute to overcoming the local economic downturn caused by the resurgence of COVID-19 and establishing a virtuous cycle regional economy. We will also continue to actively strive to discover necessary projects for residents and secure national funds.”
