View original imageOn this day, Candidate Sim held a press conference at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, stating, "The Sim Sang-jung administration will achieve an energy transformation by increasing renewable energy such as solar and wind power by 160 gigawatts (GW) by 2030."
Candidate Sim said, "We will expand renewable energy facilities intensively, focusing on metropolitan areas where electricity self-sufficiency rates are declining, to resolve regional inequalities," adding, "If we increase renewable energy capacity by 20GW annually through an average investment of 40 trillion won in renewable energy starting from 2023, we can achieve a 50% share of renewable energy."
To this end, Candidate Sim promised to integrate Korea Electric Power Corporation's power generation subsidiaries into a 'Renewable Energy Corporation' and create a regional community renewable energy investment law to significantly increase community-based renewable energy. She also pledged to mandate the installation of solar panels on all new buildings and gradually require installation on existing buildings, ushering in the era of 'one household, one solar panel.'
Candidate Sim said, "We will install solar panels free of charge on apartment complexes and village power plants, as well as on households and village units such as farms, fisheries, energy-poor groups, and apartment complexes," and added, "This installation process will foster the renewable energy industry and component materials sector and create jobs."

She emphasized, "We will transform from a developing country with less than 7% renewable energy share by 2030 into a climate-advanced country with over half of its energy from renewables, becoming a model country for renewable energy."
