According to health authorities and local governments, from midnight to 6 p.m. on the same day, the number of people confirmed positive for COVID-19 across 17 cities and provinces nationwide was 3,318, which is 188 more than the same time the previous day.
New cases were reported as 2,151 (64.8%) in the Seoul metropolitan area and 1,167 (35.2%) in non-metropolitan areas. Cases were reported in all 17 cities and provinces.
By region, the numbers are as follows: Gyeonggi 1,092, Seoul 863, Busan 195, Incheon 196, Gyeongbuk 165, Gyeongnam 154, Daegu 120, Gangwon 100, Chungnam 116, Daejeon 46, Jeonnam and Chungbuk 50 each, Gwangju 60, Jeju 35, Ulsan 8, and Sejong 3.
The fourth domestic wave of COVID-19, which began in early July, has continued for over five months.

The number of new cases reported over the past week (December 7?13) were 4,954 → 7,174 → 7,102 → 7,022 → 6,977 → 6,689 → 5,817, with a daily average of 6,534 cases. Excluding imported cases, the average daily number of locally transmitted cases is 6,504.
