On the 4th, at the Jeongsangmok Hall in the 70th Anniversary Memorial Hall of Mokpo National University, the Mokpo National University Sports Industry Research Institute and doctoral graduates in sports marketing commemorated the late Professor Jeon.
The memorial seminar, held about 50 days after his passing, was conducted under the theme "Current Status and Future Prospects of the Regional Sports Industry," with the first part as a memorial ceremony and the second part as a seminar.
The seminar focused on the regional sports industry, which the late professor researched for 29 years at Mokpo National University.
In accordance with the late professor’s wishes, the event was prepared as a memorial seminar rather than a typical memorial service, presenting his achievements and research activities, and screening photos and memorial videos.
Additionally, through three presentations, the current status and future prospects of the regional sports industry were discussed.
In particular, the seminar honored the late professor’s lifelong dedication to the theme of the regional sports industry, his efforts to expand the scope of the sports industry, and his contributions to regional development, while reviewing the current status and future outlook of the regional sports industry through his legacy.
At the event, Kim Jaemu, Chairman of the Jeonnam Provincial Sports Council, Kim Jongbaek, Dean of the Korea Sports Tourism School, and Oh Eungsu, Chairman of the Korea Sports Industry Management Association, sent memorial messages.
Kim Sunhee, Director of the Mokpo National University Sports Industry Research Institute, said, “Knowing that the late professor’s practical passion is deeply rooted in the school, department, and research institute, we will carry on his will and work with future scholars to broaden the horizons of the regional sports industry. We will also strive to present the roles and alternatives that sports can offer for regional development.”
