Fair Trade Commission Launches 'Case Work Improvement TF' to Shorten Processing Time
Subcontracting Sector Industry Meeting Held
Understanding Transaction Status and Listening to Suggestions Related to Fair Trade Commission Case Handling
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Ju Sang-don] The Fair Trade Commission (FTC) has been actively operating the 'Case Work Improvement Task Force (TF)' since last month to expedite case handling. The FTC plans to devise measures to shorten case processing periods through the TF.
On the 2nd, the FTC held a meeting at the Korea Fair Trade Mediation Agency in Seoul with major business organizations and representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises in the subcontracting sector, announcing that it is promoting case work improvements and system enhancements.
Shin Bong-sam, Secretary General of the FTC, explained, "Prolonged case handling not only delays the restoration of transaction order and damage relief but also causes harm by placing investigated companies in an unstable state for an extended period. To resolve these issues in case handling and to prepare effective improvement measures considering changes in work conditions, we formed an internal Case Work Improvement TF within the Commission, which began operating last month."
The FTC plans not only to shorten the case processing period through the TF but also to ensure the effectiveness of case handling so that the quality is not compromised by focusing solely on time reduction.
Secretary General Shin stated, "We will first seek internal improvement measures that can enhance the efficiency of case work. Additionally, we will analyze various cases and complaint tasks handled by the FTC to explore ways to share and collaborate with affiliated organizations and local governments. Despite these efforts, if it is confirmed that organizational restructuring and personnel expansion are necessary to expedite and strengthen case handling, we will consider such measures within the minimum necessary scope."
This meeting was held to actively listen to field opinions regarding the transaction status in the subcontracting sector and the FTC’s case handling practices. Small and medium subcontracting companies attending the meeting voiced concerns about unfair trade practices in the subcontracting field and suggested improvements in case work and system enhancements to the FTC.
