Imsil-gun Achieves Record High Peach Sales of 5.8 Billion KRW This Year

[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Nosik] The representative fruit of Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, peaches, have recorded their highest sales this year.

According to the county on the 29th, this year's peach shipment performance reached 911 tons and 5.8 billion KRW, marking the highest sales performance, an increase from last year's 5.3 billion KRW.

The Imsil En Peach Cooperative Shipping Association (Chairman Jin Yuhwan) recently held a settlement general meeting at Osu Gwanchon Nonghyup, attended by about 90 people including 80 members and Nonghyup officials, where they announced these results.

At the general meeting, reports on this year's business settlement and next year's business plans were discussed, along with awards for outstanding shippers who contributed this year.

Imsil En Peach started with 104 tons and 400 million KRW in 2011, and its shipment performance has rapidly grown, achieving the highest sales this year.

This is the result of all members of the Imsil En Peach Cooperative Shipping Association obtaining GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) certification, establishing a safety management system from production to sales that consumers can trust, thereby increasing consumer recognition.

The county is separating and relocating the tomato sorting facility within the peach sorting facility to significantly expand the peach-exclusive sorting center.

They are investing 700 million KRW this year in the commercialization infrastructure construction project to expand the peach sorting facility.

Since the existing APC sorting facility cannot handle the demand for peaches, once this project is completed by the end of this year, the efficiency of peach sorting is expected to improve significantly from next year.

Accordingly, the brand value of Imsil-gun's peaches is expected to rise further.

The county has prepared a policy to focus on fostering peach processed foods to create high-quality luxury products and high added value, and from this year, Ttadam Agricultural Cooperative Corporation has been producing peach preserves and juices.

Research and development using peaches is also active, with the Imsil Cheese and Food Research Institute planning to develop peach wine.

County Governor Shim Min said, “Imsil peaches are a representative fruit of the county preferred by consumers for their beautiful color and high sugar content,” adding, “The administration and farmers will work together to ensure Imsil peaches rightfully join the ranks of Korea’s best peaches.”
