Why Did Ulsan City's Land Area Increase Even Though It Wasn't Purchased?
Ulsan City’s Project to Find City-Owned Properties Not Yet Relocated Brings 'Considerable Benefits'

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The land owned by Ulsan City is increasing. Why is it increasing even though no separate budget was spent to purchase it?
Ulsan City is seeing "pleasant benefits" by conducting a project to find properties that have not yet been transferred to the city.
On the 29th, Ulsan City announced that its dedicated team for "finding untransferred city-owned properties" recently achieved the transfer of land ownership worth approximately 27.8 billion KRW.
Since the dedicated team started operating in March, after discovering 200 parcels of land along the main road between Ulsan Grand Park and Ulsan Sports Park, they have achieved another significant result.
According to Ulsan City, after the "Untransferred City-Owned Property Search Progress Report Meeting" held in June, the dedicated team began searching for new project targets through ownership investigations of documents related to gratuitous acquisition.
They discovered that road lands in the Beonyeong-ro and Jangchun-ro areas had not been transferred, and ownership transfer was completed on the 15th, about five months later.
The properties transferred this time total 66 parcels covering 11,090㎡, valued at 27.8 billion KRW.
These include △18 parcels (3,754㎡) worth 5 billion KRW for the Beonyeong-ro (Beonyeonggyo Bridge to Hanbi Intersection) development project, and △48 parcels (7,336.9㎡) worth 22.8 billion KRW for the Jung-gu New Arterial Road (currently Jangchun-ro) development project. The lands are mainly roads and drainage channels, but some plots of land are also included.
The ownership of these lands was previously held by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance (19 parcels, 675㎡) and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (47 parcels, 1,415.9㎡). With this ownership transfer, legal disputes related to ownership of Beonyeong-ro and Jangchun-ro, which are urban planning roads managed by Ulsan City, have been preemptively prevented, greatly enhancing administrative stability.
In March, Ulsan City had found 200 parcels of untransferred national land worth about 70 billion KRW along the main road between Ulsan Grand Park and Ulsan Sports Park.
Additionally, ownership transfers are underway for untransferred city-owned properties found in various public facility sectors such as parks, sports facilities, and rivers.
