People Power Party Files Multiple Complaints Against Democratic Party Spokesperson and Others Over 'Mokpo Dinner Expenses'
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The People Power Party has filed multiple lawsuits against Democratic Party officials regarding the controversy over presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol's restaurant meal expenses in the Mokpo area.
On the 27th, the People Power Party's Public Relations Office announced that it filed a complaint with the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul against Democratic Party spokesperson Lee Yong-bin of the campaign committee for "spreading false information under the Public Official Election Act," and against an unidentified Democratic Party member who led the submission of the complaint for "false accusation."
The People Power Party emphasized, "Candidate Yoon has strictly complied with the Public Official Election Act by paying for his own meals and those of his aides separately during all schedules," adding, "We have sincerely explained the facts based on thorough evidence in response to the Democratic Party's false allegations, and related receipts have even been disclosed."
They further warned, "If the Democratic Party does not apologize for spreading false information and withdraw the complaint, strong criminal penalties will follow."
Candidate Yoon visited Mokpo on the 11th and had a dinner accompanied by drinking with former city council members. The Democratic Party pointed out that Yoon violated election laws by receiving the cost of the bomb-ju drinking party from a third party.
