View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) has been honored with the prestigious '6th Korea Reading Municipality Award,' hosted by the Korea Reading Culture Promotion Association (President Kim Eul-ho) and sponsored by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee, marking its third consecutive year of winning.
The 'Korea Reading Municipality Award' began in 2016 as part of the 'Creating a Reading Nation Movement.' It is awarded to outstanding local governments nationwide that contribute to fostering a healthy reading culture and lead efforts to promote the joy and importance of reading.
The district was recognized for achievements including ▲ Dongdaemun-gu Dapsimni Library receiving the 'Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award' for reading culture ▲ fulfilling the pledge to establish 'one neighborhood library per administrative dong' ▲ attracting the Seoul Representative Library near Cheongnyangni Station ▲ installing smart libraries at two subway stations (Yongdu Station and Dapsimni Station) ▲ newly establishing the public Dongdaemun Book Yard Library on the first floor of the district office building.
