Korea Consumer Agency, Results of the 'Consumer Market Evaluation Index' Survey
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Among major domestic service markets, the general hospital market received the highest consumer evaluation. In contrast, the automobile repair service and packing moving service markets received the lowest evaluations.
On the 26th, the Korea Consumer Agency released the results of the "2021 Consumer Market Evaluation Index," which assessed how consumer-oriented individual markets operate. The survey was conducted with 21,000 consumers, 1,000 from each of the 21 major service markets, and the consumer evaluation score was 80.7 out of 100 points. This year's consumer evaluation score increased by 3.1 points from 77.6 in the 2019 survey.
By individual market, the automobile repair service market and the packing moving service market both received the lowest score of 79.8 points. The automobile repair service market also received the lowest score in the 2019 survey. Although the evaluation score for the packing moving service increased by 2.6 points compared to 2019, both markets were classified as "warning markets" requiring urgent improvement in consumer orientation.
The market with the highest consumer evaluation score was the general hospital service, which scored 83.3 points. The general hospital service received the highest scores in four of the five evaluation categories: variety of choices, ease of comparison, reliability, and satisfaction of expectations. Following this, dental services and indemnity health insurance service markets received favorable evaluations with scores of 81.9 and 81.5 respectively, and were classified as "good markets" along with the general hospital service market in terms of consumer orientation.

The Korea Consumer Agency plans to provide the survey results to relevant government departments and related companies to support improvements in consumer orientation. For the warning markets, it will conduct in-depth market analysis research and propose specific policy measures.
