Two Former Gwangju Bar Association Executives Arrested for Accepting Bribes from Redevelopment Contractors
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Two current lawyers, including a former executive of the Gwangbu Regional Bar Association, have been arrested on charges of violating the Attorney-at-Law Act.
According to the legal community on the 25th, Judge Park Min-woo, in charge of warrants, issued arrest warrants on the 24th for two lawyers: Lawyer A from the Gwangju area and Lawyer B from the Daejeon area, on charges of violating the Attorney-at-Law Act.
The court considered that there was a risk of evidence tampering by them.
Lawyer A is presumed to be accused of improperly receiving money related to a redevelopment project corruption case.
It is known that investigators belonging to the Gwangju Police Agency, who have been indicted for leaking investigation secrets and other charges, were involved in the corruption case.
In connection with this case, former and current police officers have been arrested, and some, along with brokers and businesspeople, have been indicted and are undergoing trial.
Currently, Lawyer A is reportedly denying the charges, claiming that the fees received were legitimate.
