On the 23rd, Hyundai Doosan Infracore announced on the 24th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for 'Mutual Cooperation in Smart Construction Technology' with SK Ecoplant at its global R&D center headquarters in Dong-gu, Incheon. This is the first time that a domestic construction machinery company and a major construction firm have jointly pursued advanced development and demonstration cooperation projects for smart construction technology.
Through this MOU, Hyundai Doosan Infracore and SK Ecoplant agreed to jointly promote the advancement and on-site demonstration of smart construction technologies aimed at improving construction productivity, safety, and quality innovation.
First, Hyundai Doosan Infracore will advance technology using the cloud-based integrated smart construction platform 'Site Cloud.' This includes enhancing platform technologies such as digital twin technology that replicates construction sites in a virtual environment, earthwork volume analysis, control, and work management, as well as developing new functions. Automated systems such as 3D machine guidance, which enable information linkage between on-site equipment and the platform, will also be applied.
SK Ecoplant plans to provide on-site data, construction know-how, and VOC (Voice of Customer) to ensure that smart construction technology is applied accurately in actual sites, as well as to establish technology demonstration test sites. Through this, both companies expect to lead the digitalization of the construction industry, enhancing productivity and safety.
The advanced smart construction technology developed through this cooperation will also be applied to sites operated by SK Ecoplant in the future.

According to the 'Smart Construction Global Insight' released by the Smart Construction Business Group, the global smart construction market size is expected to reach $1.6 trillion (approximately 1,900 trillion KRW) by 2025, accounting for 10% of the total market.
Lee Dong-wook, Vice President of the Technology Center at Hyundai Doosan Infracore, stated, "Cloud platform-based smart construction technology is the key to transforming construction sites through digitalization," adding, "The more advanced smart construction technology developed through this cooperation will be an innovative technology that acts as a game changer."
Jang Hyo-sik, Head of Eco Infrastructure OXG at SK Ecoplant, said, "Smart construction technology helps precisely predict various variables that may occur on actual sites and greatly contributes to improving productivity and safety," and added, "By applying smart construction technology from the design stage of development projects through technical cooperation with Hyundai Doosan Infracore, we expect to dramatically enhance smart technology capabilities in the construction industry."
Meanwhile, 'Site Cloud,' developed by Hyundai Doosan Infracore, is the only integrated smart construction platform in Korea, launched in 2020. It shortens the earthwork volume calculation period from several tens of days to a few days by conducting 3D surveying of construction sites using drones, and improves the work productivity of novice operators by 40% through excavation automation technology.
