BMW Group Korea Holds 5th BMW Ausbildung Inauguration Ceremony
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] BMW Group Korea announced on the 24th that it held the 5th inauguration ceremony of the German-style work-study dual program ‘BMW Ausbildung’ at the BMW Driving Center in Yeongjongdo, Incheon.
The event held on the 23rd was attended by 61 newly selected 5th BMW Ausbildung trainees, professional trainers, executives and employees of dealer companies, and representatives from the Korea-Germany Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The inauguration ceremony began with a welcome speech by Sangcheon Jeong, Executive Director of After-Sales at BMW Group Korea, followed by an orientation on the history of the BMW brand, understanding of after-sales (AS), the AS network, and the upcoming training courses.
The trainees strengthened their sense of belonging by experiencing a tour of the BMW Driving Center and a track driving program.
‘Ausbildung’ is a German dual vocational education program that combines work and study, considered one of the secrets to the success of Germany, a manufacturing powerhouse.
The Ausbildung introduced domestically focuses on the automotive maintenance field within Germany’s work-study dual education system, specifically the ‘Auto-Mechatroniker’ course, which consists of a solid three-year curriculum combining 70% on-site practical training at companies and 30% university theoretical education.
During the program, BMW Ausbildung participants sign formal employment contracts with seven official BMW dealers, receiving stable salaries and high-quality working environments. Upon completion, they earn a professional associate degree. Additionally, they obtain a training certificate awarded by the German Federal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and have the opportunity to be employed by the companies where they trained.
