[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] The police are set to hold a public disclosure review regarding Kim Mo (35), who killed his ex-girlfriend after she requested personal protection due to dating violence and stalking.
According to the police on the 23rd, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency will hold a public disclosure review committee on the 24th to deliberate whether to disclose the suspect's identity.
Kim is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend with a weapon at an officetel in Jeodong, Jung-gu, Seoul, on the 19th. The victim, unable to endure months of threats and stalking, had applied for personal protection against dating violence five times this year alone. On the day of the incident, despite making two emergency calls via a smartwatch provided by the police during threats from Kim at her home, she was killed.
According to the suspect's movements disclosed by the police that day, Kim traveled to Seoul on the 18th, the day before the crime, purchased a hat at a store in Euljiro, Jung-gu, wore it, and bought a weapon at a nearby mart. He then stayed at a lodging facility in Jongno-gu, where he is believed to have planned the crime.
On the morning of the 19th, the day of the crime, at around 11:06 a.m., Kim checked the victim's car in the underground third-floor parking lot of the officetel where she lived, went up to the third floor, waited in the hallway for the victim to come out, and attacked her as she appeared.
