According to reports, the Waukesha Police Department announced through its official Facebook account on the same day that "5 people have died and 40 have been injured."
Immediately after the incident, the police confirmed one death and about 20 injuries.
The police arrested the suspect at the scene and secured the suspect's vehicle, but did not disclose specific details such as the suspect's identity, motive, or any connection to terrorism.
According to the police, at around 4:39 p.m. on the 21st, during a Christmas parade held on a main street in Waukesha, a red SUV suddenly accelerated and rammed into the parade line and the crowd of spectators.
