According to the People Power Party on the 22nd, as a result of the 46th Supreme Council meeting held that day, party leader Lee Jun-seok and former Liberty Korea Party (the predecessor of the People Power Party) emergency committee chairman Kim Byung-joon were decided as standing election committee chairmen.
Candidate Yoon explained, "There will be a lot of interest in the election committee, and I have thought about several directions regarding that," adding, "We need to form a party-centered election committee. I am thinking of an election committee that gathers experienced party elders and talented growing personnel within the party so that the party can unite and move forward as one."
He continued, "All citizens should become protagonists of the presidential election campaign," and added, "The election committee should be composed considering stable government administration after regime change, and the formation of the election committee itself should be a process of national integration."
Regarding the 'New Era Preparation Committee,' chaired by former New Millennium Democratic Union leader Kim Han-gil, he said, "We plan to campaign together with those who want to participate in the regime change," adding, "Although it will be much smaller in scale than the party election committee, the composition and activities will be regularly shared at the Supreme Council."
The participation of former emergency committee chairman Kim Jong-in has not been confirmed. Candidate Yoon said, "I have continuously spoken to Kim Jong-in, the general election committee chairman, but he asked for a day or two more time, so when he finally decides, I will bring up the agenda then."
