[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that, according to a satisfaction survey on the district administration during the 7th local government term, 7 out of 10 residents responded that the administration is ‘doing well.’
This survey was conducted by Eunpyeong-gu through a professional polling agency from the 1st to the 10th of the month, targeting 1,000 residents. The sampling error margin is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
According to the results, 69.1% of respondents expressed satisfaction with the overall district administration during the 7th local government term. The policy areas with the highest satisfaction were ▲residential environment (51.4%), ▲transportation (48.6%), and ▲health and welfare (36.6%), in that order.
Regarding the evaluation of major policies or issues pursued during the term, positive assessments were given to ▲efforts to expand the metropolitan transportation network such as GTX-A and the Western Light Rail Transit (80.2%), ▲establishment of COVID-19 response systems including screening clinics and vaccination centers (78.0%), ▲the ‘I-mom Taxi’ project supporting vehicle transportation for pregnant women and infants (58.5%), and ▲the Green Moa Moa Project (56.3%). This indicates very high satisfaction and expectations for policies related to improving the local transportation environment.
As for areas to focus on in future district administration, respondents prioritized ▲urban maintenance projects (35.1%), ▲expansion of railway transportation networks (31.4%), ▲strengthening care services for vulnerable groups (26.2%), ▲station area development (25.1%), and ▲expansion of cultural and sports facilities by district (22.2%). This reflects a desire for ‘infrastructure development’ such as regional development and facility expansion, as well as active and proactive expansion of ‘welfare services.’

Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, expressed gratitude to residents for their positive evaluation of the district administration over the past three years and said, “We will devote all efforts to revitalizing the local economy, which has been weakened by COVID-19.” She added, “In particular, during the remaining term, we will do our best to build urban infrastructure such as transportation network improvements, which residents highly expect, and to discover new vulnerable groups including single-person households and improve welfare services.”
