Seoul Reports 1,377 New COVID-19 Cases... Consecutive Daily Record Highs Maintained
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] On the 19th, the number of new COVID-19 cases in Seoul was reported as 1,377 by the Central Disease Control Headquarters on the 20th. The cumulative number of confirmed cases is 139,154.
This is the highest number ever recorded on a Friday. It is 372 more than the previous record of 1,005 cases recorded a week ago on the 12th. It is 24 fewer than the 1,401 cases reported the day before on the 18th.
Among the new confirmed cases, 1,372 were domestic infections and 5 were imported cases. The daily number of confirmed cases in Seoul dropped to 298 on September 24 after recording 1,221 cases, then surged again to 1,004 on October 2. Since then, the numbers fluctuated between the 600s and early 1,000s until sharply rising to 1,436 on the 16th. This set a new record just about two weeks after the phased daily recovery (With Corona) was implemented.
