View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, criticized the current administration's real estate policies, including the so-called 'Lease 3 Acts.' Along with this, he pledged to normalize the private rental housing market and ease loan regulations.
On the 20th, Yoon stated on Facebook, "The housing disaster is ongoing with missing listings, soaring jeonse prices, worsening imbalance, and the nightmare that will hit in a year," adding, "It is a real estate disaster caused by the arrogance and dogmatism of the Moon Jae-in administration." The previous day marked the one-year anniversary of the government's November 19th jeonse measures announcement.
Yoon pointed out, "Due to dried-up loans, a large number of 'monthly rent refugees' are emerging. For those lacking cash, the hope of owning a home has become an unattainable dream," and added, "Young people preparing for marriage are despairing. There is no jeonse available, and even if there is, they cannot get loans."
He also highlighted the problems of the Lease 3 Acts. Yoon explained, "The Lease 3 Acts have increased conflicts between landlords and tenants. Tenants can immediately benefit from the renewal of jeonse or monthly rent contracts, but after two years, they have to bear the burden of sharply increased rents," and "In addition, due to issues such as imbalance in the jeonse market, citizens searching for housing are suffering."
Yoon continued, "If I become president, I will closely examine the blind spots and side effects of the Lease 3 Acts. I will boldly abolish elements that hinder housing stability and create an institutional environment where landlords and tenants do not feel insecure," promising, "I will normalize the private rental housing market by granting both incentives and responsibilities to individual and corporate rental businesses."
He also plans to ease loan regulations. Yoon said, "I will also unblock tightly restricted loans. I will provide unprecedented financial support mainly to newlyweds and young people," adding, "I will activate transactions and enhance market stability to broadly guarantee the choice of jeonse and monthly rent demanders. Furthermore, I will continuously supply public rental housing for vulnerable groups."
