‘Hyo Culture Festival’ Debuts in Ulsan … Award Ceremony, Hyo Special Lecture, and Celebration Performance Live-Streamed on YouTube
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The first festival to inherit and spread the culture of filial piety (Hyo) was held in Ulsan.
Ulsan City announced on the 20th at 10 a.m. at the City Council Citizen Hall that the '1st Ulsan Hyo Culture Festival' was held with 99 attendees, including Park Yong-rak, Director of Welfare and Women’s Affairs, Park Byung-seok, Chairman of the City Council, Seo Jin-ik, CEO of the Hyo Academy Corporation, and award recipients.
Hosted by the Hyo Academy, the event held the commemorative ceremony in person, while the rest was broadcasted via non-face-to-face YouTube streaming.
Awards presentation, commemorative speeches, special lectures, and theatrical performances followed. Eleven meritorious individuals received awards during the ceremony.
Next, a special lecture on ‘Ulsan’s Hyo Culture’ (lecturer: Ahn Gil-won) was held to reflect on the importance of filial piety, followed by the Hyo Academy theater team’s filial piety play titled ‘Let’s Remember’.
Song Cheol-ho, Mayor of Ulsan, said, “Hyo, a beautiful traditional cultural heritage, is one of the important virtues of human ethics, and recently, as the importance of a healthy mind and behavior has been emphasized, the value of Hyo is gaining renewed attention.”
