Korea Ceramic Foundation Announces Public Purchase of 'Modern Ceramic Artifacts' for Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum Collection
[Asia Economy (Gwangju) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Korea Ceramic Foundation is publicly purchasing 'modern ceramic artifacts' for the collection of the Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum in Gwangju until the 24th of this month.
This project aims to expand cultural enjoyment opportunities for residents and strengthen the capabilities of the public museum by continuously securing representative ceramic artifacts of Gyeonggi Province.
The artifacts targeted for purchase include ▲ Bunwon Gongso, Bunwon Ceramic Co., Ltd., and Bunwon white porcelain before and after privatization (Bunwon refers to the place where porcelain used in the Joseon Dynasty's Saongwon was made) ▲ modern regional white porcelain such as from Haeju, Hwanghae-do and Yanggu, Gangwon-do ▲ reproduction ceramics from the Yiwangjik Art Production Office (a Joseon royal household item production office established in 1908) and Hanyang Goryeo Factory (a celadon reproduction factory established around 1910 in Mukjeong-dong, Seoul).
Cultural property dealers, corporations or organizations, and private collectors are all eligible to participate.
Applications can be submitted by filling out the application form on the Korea Ceramic Foundation website and sending it via email or by mail to the artifact purchase officer of the Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum's curatorial team.
However, artifacts with unclear ownership or provenance and illegal cultural properties cannot be submitted for sale. Further details can be found on the Korea Ceramic Foundation website.
Submitted artifacts will be finally selected through a first review by the Artifact Collection Practical Committee and a second appraisal evaluation by the Artifact Evaluation Committee.
The selected artifacts will be publicly exhibited next year through the Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum's 'Modern and Contemporary Traditional Ceramics Permanent Exhibition.'
