According to Mokpo Coast Guard on the 18th, at 2:34 p.m. on the 17th, a report was received that crew member B (in his 30s) of coastal trap fishing vessel A (9.77 tons, 10 crew members) fishing 12.7 km southwest of Byeongpungdo Island, Jindo-gun, had a serious head injury and needed to be transported to a hospital, and a patrol ship was dispatched immediately.
The dispatched Coast Guard moored to vessel A near Byeongpungdo Island, boarded patient B and a guardian, and quickly transported them to Seomang Port in Jindo-gun.
Patient B, who received emergency treatment from the Coast Guard during the urgent transport, arrived at Seomang Port, Jindo-gun, at around 4:40 p.m. and was transferred to a land hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
A Mokpo Coast Guard official said, "During winter, the number of fishing days increases and safety accidents frequently occur inside vessels due to high waves," adding, "We must always be vigilant about accidents and strictly follow safety rules to prevent injuries."
