Wanju-gun Implements Emergency Response to Foreigners' COVID-19 Cluster Outbreak
After 14th This Month, Total 20 Foreign Patients Confirmed...Periodic Full Testing of Industrial Workers Planned
[Wanju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Wanju-gun has launched an emergency response, including strengthening monitoring of industrial sites and conducting full-scale testing of employees, in relation to the cluster outbreak of COVID-19 among foreigners.
According to Wanju-gun on the 18th, since the first patient emerged on the 14th after a private gathering of foreign acquaintances, the cluster outbreak among foreigners has increased to a total of 20 cases, showing a spreading trend.
Accordingly, Wanju-gun has taken immediate measures such as conducting self-disinfection at related industrial sites, excluding foreign workers from work, carrying out in-depth field epidemiological investigations, classifying close contacts within the industrial sites, and excluding them from work.
Wanju-gun also requested cooperation from employees by separating movement paths between staff, refraining from using rest facilities, strengthening monitoring of symptomatic individuals within the company, and providing immediate testing guidance.
In particular, Wanju-gun is focusing on emergency response by periodically conducting full-scale testing of employees at related industrial sites and continuously strengthening monitoring related to symptoms within the company.
Wanju-gun is also concentrating its efforts on blocking the chain of spread through in-depth epidemiological investigations regarding confirmed cases among domestic workers in local industrial sites.
In the case of Company A, following the confirmation of two employees on the 14th and an additional three on the next day, a full-scale test was conducted on about 90 employees in the related department, and the company carried out self-disinfection and suspended work of foreign workers. On the 17th, one more case occurred at this company, and Wanju-gun decided to start periodic testing from the 19th.
Earlier, Wanju-gun had implemented an administrative order for testing foreign workers following consecutive COVID-19 infections among foreign workers and international students last month, and considering the incubation period and interregional infection prevention, periodic testing has been conducted on a weekly basis.
