[Factory Visit] ThreeMediVision Challenges Global Market with 'Metaverse Veterinary Education Platform'
Opening of Asia's Largest Global Training Center (VGTC) in Songdo, Incheon
Production and Service of Educational Content Applying 3D Video Technology
Accelerating Expansion into Overseas Markets Including the US, China, and India
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] "3D Medivision is the first medical edutech specialized company in Korea. We will advance as a platform leading veterinary education not only domestically but also globally."
Kim Gijin, CEO of 3D Medivision, announced this goal at the press conference for the opening of the 'Betterflix Global Training Center (VGTC)' held on the 16th in Songdo, Incheon.
Founded in 2011, 3D Medivision is engaged in producing and providing veterinary education content that applies 3D video systems to the medical field for the first time in the world. They independently developed and manufactured specialized cameras optimized for surgical education and provide educational video content covering all areas related to surgery and practice based on the 3D video system.
VGTC is an integrated veterinary medical training center combining online and offline education, creating an environment similar to actual medical sites such as operating rooms, practice rooms, and conference halls to provide efficient education management and practice-acquisition systems. The main target customers are veterinarians and animal health professionals.
CEO Kim emphasized that VGTC is the first non-face-to-face veterinary education platform in Korea and the largest in Asia. He said, "VGTC is the largest in Asia, capable of simultaneous practice by up to 60 people," and added, "There is also a conference hall where 132 people can sit and directly exchange opinions with the operating room."
VGTC will operate around four core businesses: 3D live surgery that delivers real-time 3D video of the surgical field from the perspective of a veterinary surgeon based on 3D video equipment specialized for surgery; hands-on courses that allow intensive education and practice in a 1-on-1 or 1-to-N format; webinar services that combine education and practice programs online and offline through a web seminar system; and rental services for seminars, conferences hosted by companies, academic societies, and associations, as well as meeting or gathering spaces conducted face-to-face.
CEO Kim expressed confidence in the growth potential of the business. He said, "The traditional 1-on-1 apprenticeship method of transferring medical technology had many spatial and temporal limitations," and added, "COVID-19 brought significant changes to education methods, and as the non-face-to-face trend has become active, video education has penetrated daily life and is gaining attention as a natural metaverse learning platform."
The business model consists of VGTC and online content sales. Among these, online content is created by producing practice videos at VGTC, which are then made into Vet TV and 3D content and sold on their own veterinary medical education platform, 'Betterflix.' CEO Kim explained, "If surgical cases are reprocessed into content, they can be made into multiple videos," and "The cost is only incurred once during production, so profit margins will increase in the future."
Currently, preparations for overseas expansion are also underway. The global version of Betterflix, 'Global Betterflix,' was officially launched in the second half of this year. They are accelerating entry into overseas markets such as the United States, Japan, China, and India. Additionally, they are promoting a joint veterinary lecture production project with Western University in the United States. In Japan, they plan to open their own site in the first half of next year.
