'Baekbeom Kim Gu Teacher's Homecoming Welcome Party' Held at 'Metaverse Gyeonggyojang' After 76 Years
Seoul Museum of History Implements Metaverse Platform... Tour Gyeonggyojang with Avatar of Kim Gu
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Museum of History announced on the 17th that it will hold a welcome home event for Baekbeom Kim Gu at the 'Gyeonggyojang World' implemented within the global metaverse platform 'ZEPETO' on the 23rd.
Gyeonggyojang, a branch of the Seoul Museum of History, is a historic site where Baekbeom Kim Gu, the president of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, used as his office and residence. After liberation, the Provisional Government was not recognized by the U.S. military government, so Kim Gu returned home quietly on November 23, 1945, in a personal capacity without even a welcome ceremony.
By searching for ‘Gyeonggyojang’ on ZEPETO, any user can move to the metaverse Gyeonggyojang. Upon entering Gyeonggyojang World, visitors first see the C-47 aircraft that Kim Gu boarded upon his return. Participants can greet avatar versions of Kim Gu and Lee Si-young, then freely take seats at the outdoor event area prepared on the right side to have an interview session.
After the interview and commemorative photo session, visitors move to Gyeonggyojang located at the center of the world. The metaverse Gyeonggyojang consists of five zones: the first floor lobby, reception room, and office; and the second floor living room/office and reception room/study. The windows on the second floor even reproduce the bullet marks made by Army Second Lieutenant Ahn Doo-hee at the time of Kim Gu’s assassination, allowing users to experience the vividness as if they were touring the actual Gyeonggyojang.
