[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Korea International Trade Association Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Headquarters, in collaboration with Gwangju Metropolitan City, held the 2021 Gwangju Online Export Consultation from August 24 to November 2.

This year’s consultation involved 33 companies from various sectors including cosmetics, food, medical, and industrial goods, meeting with 91 buyers from 9 countries in total.

To overcome the limitations of online video consultations, this year’s event was held twice using a mixed inbound and outbound approach.

The first inbound consultation targeted all applicant companies, where buyers selected domestic companies, while the second outbound consultation selected 13 outstanding companies from the first round to consult with buyers from countries chosen by those companies.

During the first consultation held from August 24 to September 2, six companies including Taehyun Food signed sample contracts worth $7,900, with a total of 90 consultations amounting to $7.01 million.

The second consultation, held from October 14 to November 2, involved only the 13 selected companies but conducted 91 consultations totaling $6.76 million.

Among them, “The High,” which exports baby snacks, received exclusive contract offers from two Malaysian buyers and is currently negotiating detailed contract terms to be finalized by the first half of next year.

Lee Kwon-jae, head of the Trade Association’s Gwangju-Jeonnam Headquarters, said, “To overcome the limitations of online consultations, we held the event twice this year, resulting in good outcomes. As the world is entering the with-COVID-19 era with treatments soon available, we will continue to support Gwangju companies’ overseas market entry by carrying out online and offline marketing projects in domestic and international business fields such as export consultations.”
