Kakao Unveils 'Zero Commission' Commerce Platform
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Kakao announced on the 16th that it will create an open commerce platform with no commission fees.
Jongwon Lee, Chief Business Officer (CBO) of Kakao, revealed this plan at the 'If Kakao 2021' conference on the same day. Regardless of small business owners or brands, anyone can display products and create order forms on the platform.
The CBO emphasized, "We will create a 'zero commission open platform' with no entry fees or integration fees," adding, "It will offer the same conditions to both brands and small business owners, fostering true mutual growth so that businesses can grow more easily."
Meanwhile, Kakao also unveiled plans for Talk Business Cards and digital employee IDs using KakaoTalk IDs.
Talk Business Cards are digital business cards that anyone with a KakaoTalk ID can create. They can display digital certifications and be exchanged in chat rooms.
Currently, Kakao employees use digital employee IDs utilizing KakaoTalk IDs. These are used for office access and entering meetings conducted via KakaoTV.

Kakao also stated that it is planning a feature to set entry qualifications for open chat rooms using KakaoTalk IDs. Taeksu Kim, Chief Product Officer (CPO) of Kakao's Service Division, said, "We are imagining more futures," and emphasized, "We will strive to provide services that help make daily life more convenient."
